Just imagine if you lived in a country that forced Chrisitianity, or whatever prevailing theism, upon its people and any deviation from subscribed fellowship/worship requirements met with severe penalties?
lol really Bob? I'd pack my bags and get the heck out of Dodge (or whatever town that is), real soon.
Sorry I can't rate chainreaction but…
John Lennon FTW!
atheists are hardly free from persecution-
there was a time when athesits were not allowed to legally testify because we recognised the bible for what it is, a fairy tale.

Being an atheist these days isn't exactly going out on a limb. Don't pat yourself on the back too much. This isn't 16th century.

Good thing I don't live in a country that forces religion down my throat.
If I did live in a country that did that, I guess I'd just be a closet atheist. Just to make sure I lived another day.

Well, you don't live in a *world* free of persecution for being an atheist, just a country.

HA! you don't live in my town. The Chamber of Commerce starts each meeting with prayer, and then talks about the bible. They have a preacher at every meeting. If you don't join the cult you don't do business. If you are labelled non-christian you don't get a job.

Indeed,
Living in Canada kicks all kinds of butt. We even have same-sex marriage here and it's LEGAL. No sign of the apocalypse yet…

Isn't it great to live in a world free of persecution of intelligent life out there which surpasses and exceeds our own?

Yes, in American we are lucky to have total religious freedom, including the freedom to have no religion at all.
I wouldn't want any religion forced on someone. That isn't humane in my opinion. Free will is something we are lucky to have (enjoy it while it lasts, I'm really not knowing how our Prez is gonna feel about letting us be too free in the upcoming years, I guess we'll see!)

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Amen, brother!
Let's hope that one day, our unbelieving brothers in the Middle East are able to live their lives in peace too.
Praise Darwin.
