Bad Idea. I like it the way it is.

    I 100% agree.

That's how it used to be in the chatroom days.

The Atheists got to meet up and feel superior, the Christians got to discuss doctrine, and there was even a general "R&S Debate" section where the twain shall meet :)

Nah. I like it how it is.

I love learning about religions, and i'd rather not have 10 tabs open to each category.

Plus, that'd ruin the nights that I need some laughs.

It won't make a difference, people will just go to the other forums.

Yes, there is too much crowding in this one category.

Hinduism probably deserves its own category, as well. Maybe agnostics should get their own category, or possibly be clumped with atheism, it depends what they want.

Pointless. Trolls would just dive into one of them and continue their nonsense. Trolls who get their account pulled should be prevented from making a new one anytime soon.

You could also consider these categories:

    1) Unfunny true believers
    2) Funny and irreverent types

the christians would just try to take over every category by starting arguments telling everyone their beliefs are wrong and their going to hell, which would draw the atheists into every category to argue with them and before long, the categories no longer exist and we're back where we started…here.

Not gonna happen. Y!A staff have been asked and said it's not gonna happen. Makes sense from their POV – the debating / trolling / flaming keep people interested in the R&S section of Answers and keep them contributing *content*, which is all that the people who run this site care about. That's why this site became a joke a long time ago, and the only people who take it seriously are lulz challenged.

I don't think so. I think it is great for all opinions to be brought into a public forum. The sides that disagree are the ones that most need to understand one another.

If by "childish" you mean that people offer opinions that are either undeveloped, or not well though out; then, again – it is good to have examples of this in a public sphere – so that some may learn from more adept responses.

Sure, there are the little jabs – I myself am guilty. I know it is not right, but I find it entertaining sometimes. Still, I try to answer honest questions with honest answers.

I think all sides need to be more understanding of different views. It will require humility to not let opposing views bother you. If you sub-categorize the forum – then you segregate future potential for compromise.

I say – buck-up, roll with the punches & learn what you can. You can always ignore that which does not apply to you.
