Impossible to say really.
To the other poster, think. Socrates (or anyone else of that time) may not have been xtians, but they probably believed in Zeus, Hera, etc.

It was Diagoras of Melos, fifth century bce pre-Socratic philosopher in Greece.
Also, there were some atheists a bit later as part of a school of Hinduism.
