No one has ever murdered in the name of atheism.

You stole this argument from someone. And you made a poor choice.

Atheism doesn’t cause the oppression, it’s the Communism that does it.

True, tens of thousands of people have died because of christianity over the past 20 centuries

But TENS OF MILLIONS of people have died because of Nazism and Communism in the past century alone

So has Christianity. So has Islam. So have lots of other religions and governments. In that case, you point would be what, precisely?

The basic human belief, that if we can get people to look at the actions of others, they won’t notice what we are doing.

There’s no such thing as communist atheism. There’s just communism. Atheism does not lead to communism.

Communism is a philosophy that has atheism as one of its components, but atheism does not entail communism or any other -ism.

Atheism is simply the lack of belief in god(s), and many atheist thinkers have held very different political and economic philosophies from communism – in fact many have been free market libertarians.

In Marxist philosophy, atheism is derived from metaphysics, but most modern atheists are epistemological atheists (in other words, their atheism is derived from what they know and not from what they believe exists.)

People like to accuse other groups for doing what their own groups do.

Some atheists say that mass murder ,oppression, etc done in the name of Marxist-Leninist Communism

(which is based on a form of athiestic dialectical materialism and its atheism is foundational to it and its "behaviours")

is not consistent with atheim but many of the same atheists have no problem blaming all Christians for any evil done by anyone claiming to be a theist

when murder, persecutions, etc are directly contrary to Christian foundational teaching and texts (Matt 5, the Sermon on the Mount, for example)

More people have been killed in the name of atheistic Communism and other radical secularist regimes and philosophies in the 20 th cent alone than by all the religiously-patronized wars, etc of all history.

Atheism is just lack of belief in the gods. Nothing more.

This is like me blaming every single terrible action caused by anyone, who believed in any god at all, on Christians.

Your argument is very flawed. Just because ONE communist nation (all others are piggybacked off of the USSR model) chose to ban religion for their ends does not mean that atheists are evil.

That’s like saying Hitler had dark hair, therefore all people with dark hair are evil. You’re working backward just to try and lay blame on people.

Blame the government of that country, not Americans who had nothing to do with it.

And I’m confused as to why someone who claims to be a Christian enjoys attacking people so much.

Communist atheism? Communism, certainly, has been oppressive. But, just because communism is theoretically inherently atheistic (though not necessarily in practice, atheists are not communists.

Plus religion has been extremely oppressive far longer than communism has been around.

This is not a logical argument, because it implicates that all atheists are communists. A true statement would be that most communists are atheists, but not vice versa.

    Good day, Ma’am.

    Oh, here we go again.

Hopefully (but probably not) for the last time, communism and atheism are two entirely different things, and furthermore, the oppressive communist regimes only supported atheism in order to negate the effects of religion, not because of any statements of atheism itself. In fact, if you knew anything about Ayn Rand’s objectivism, which you evidently do not, you would be aware that atheism can just as easily be associated with anti-communist thought. What you are doing here is committing a logical fallacy, more specifically an association fallacy. You can read more about this here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_fallacy
In the future, please avoid trying to argue a point based on logical fallacies. It doesn’t work, it makes you look ignorant, and it’s a waste of everyone’s time. No offense, but that’s the reality.

1 – Atheists ARE NOT Communists and communism is NOT based on atheism. (In fact, there is even a little known group of Christian Communists) Communism embraces that idea that all people are equal and an equal part of the community. Thus, if the people are content and satisfied, the community is doing well. Everything in the Communist way of thinking in about maintaining a uniform level of order. Religion separates people, most also teach that you put god and church above man and government. This is in contradiction to the communist ideal (unless *everyone* subscribes to the same religion). Thus, RELIGION not the idea of god is punished. The belief and personal practice of religion has pretty much always been ok in communist nation so long as you were not a party member. (To be a party member, you had to fully embrace the ideals of communism and religion and theism are contrary to the communist way of thinking, thus you could not agree 100% with communism AND be a Christian unless EVERYONE in the community was also a Christian and then they would all have to be the same denomination.)

2 – When walking down the boardwalk in Wildwood, New Jersey, USA, there are people handing out pamphlets and tracks about Christianity. They sing songs about god, hold public prayers and there is even a little church on the boardwalk. Fine! As far as I’m concerned people should be permitted to do whatever they like. I have known people who spend 6 or more hours a day, 12 or more hours per day on weekends, playing video games. I think it is a waste of time and ultimately foolish, but they have the right to waste their lives on irrational pursuits if they choose…so do Christians. However, have a group of people standing around in a public location discussing why god is not real or how the bible is NOT factual and you are going to get Christians yelling at you, making threats and eventually partitioning the government to try and get you to move away. That’s to say nothing about the harassment and difficulties you would run into trying to hand out pamphlets or opening an ‘Atheistic Activist’ center. So, who are the oppressive ones?

So, you think that because of the actions of Communist Russia and Maoist China* that atheism should be blamed? Atheists tend to discuss foolish atrocities like the crusades, the inquisitions and the witch trials as proof of the intolerant and oppressive nature of Christianity. These activities were conducted and or sponsored by the church or in the case of the crusades by various governments FOR the church and specifically in the name if god. The atrocities committed in China and Russia were done ion the name of communism, NOT atheism. Atheists do not hard on incidences that were done by Christian based governments for political reason. There is a difference.

I hope this clarifies things for you a little.

    * – Maoist China as opposed to modern Communist China that permits MOST religions to openly function and has been funding the rebuilding of old temples for over a decade. (This is my personal way of distinguishing modern Communist China from it’s early days.
