Does the techincal definition of "atheist" matter if no one understands it?
Written by admin on April 16, 2009 – 12:58 pm -Do you call yourself something other than what you truly feel represents you jsut because people don't get it?
While I was in London the last week (awesome!) I was speaking to some of my fellow classmates. One girl said she was an atheist, and some other girl said it meant she believed in nothing. I explained it only meant deities, people cam believe in reicarnation blah blah blah. She just said "No, athiests beleive in nothing, that is something else". I dropped it because clearly that wasn't going anywhere and there was no reason to fight.
So, while atheism really is just a lack of beleif in dieties, does that matter if most people don't see it that way?
Technically I am an agnostic atheist, but most people outside of this forum would likely just call me agnostic or weird.
What do you do in situations like that?
The best thing to do in situations like that are drop it. If you are hung up about it, you can Google it and e-mail her the correct information.

What is the definition of "Atheist?"?

Atheism is the lack of a belief in God. We don't believe in God. Nothing more, that's it.
Let's see…
According to the oh so credible "Answers Community", an atheist is a:
1. nihilist
2. democrat
3. socialist
4. sociopath
5. homosexual
6. elitist
7. America-hater
8. God-hater
9. Satan-lover
10. homo-enabler
11. abortionist
12. scientist
13. ACLU member
14. supreme court justice (or sympathizer)
15. communist
….
Everything except the *actual* definition of an atheist: one who does not believe in God.

What is the Christian definition of a atheist fundamentalist?

I've heard this term bandied about a lot lately,what do you think it means?
I know that freezer burn ,most atheists do
Guys, I realize it's impossible to be one but I've been called one and have seen it used on other atheists just trying to find the xtian definition.
Actually it is a girl or guy, who did not complete High School ! (Just kidding !) This terminology you presented is not plausible, in that the term "atheist fundamentalist" fails to adequately describe a "non belief in gods". The fact that one would be "atheistic" would very well suffice to render the meaning with justice.

Enjoy especially if you are tolerant to religions, but do not believe in sentient supernatural beings, aka gods, this is: if you are an atheist.
