If the gene would be “it”, then why at all – mutation? Mutation is to ALTER the gene and not to propagate it,
A mutation is a random variation of the genetic code, the vast majority are not good but some are useful and even necessary for evolution to take place because the difference that it brings from the original DNA code can be selected and bring about adaptation and evolution.

No that is just scientifically not true. Sexual reproduction is a way of teaming up your genes with the best (partener) genes available to you for reproduction of your genes. They for the vast majority of the 3.2 gig of code, stay intact.

Genes cannot be the meaning of life – what purpose does a gene serve?
DNA is a fact and so is evolution. Genes are little programs made of molecule of DNA. Life is elaborated with it. We can rest on that.
I agree with you that the meaning of life is life itself. I just believe that for that statement to be useful for any one, a more personal point of reference needs to be used.

What is paramount …
What is paramount is the point of view. Dawkins says that it is the gene that is the unit of evolution. So to understand life and its meaning we must always refer to the genes eye view and the genes time line. Smaller and bigger are away from the core of meaningfulness, shorter and longer is also off the mark.

Who are you to say what the meaning of life is anyway? You’re not an all knowing deity. Your opinion has been taken into consideration, but it seems unlikely. I understand what you are trying to say, but this is quite obviously NOT the meaning of life. We will never know the meaning of life. So don’t try and act like you do. Don’t treat your opinions as fact.

The gene is the unit of life, not so much the organism that it reproduces thru. And that is why this question of the meaning of life has always eluded us. It is the gene that is “immortal” and it, you, your gene self that is living thru and bye you.
Yes but what is the meaning of your life? Some win, some loose. If you try you can win one more generation, if you tried and lost you did your best. Copies of genes living thru you also live in your close relatives and to a lesser extent in others.

Dawkins is radical but he has good scientific justification.
My personal drive, reproductive survival drive is central to me. Unconsciously or subconsciously, if you prefer, I believe that I am evolved to live and reproduce. Now that we are billions on Earth, that is still valid. I still feel that my first responsibility is that. I really like your video; I just think that, you are identifying with the wrong object Life, as opposed to billion of years old the chain of life thru you.

“Life” btw is not too broad at all, and it is quite simple: Leave the world in the best condition for all life on Earth possible. This is the meaning of each individual life.

“Life” is too broad. I believe, as you that it has its own meaning.
But then,what is the meaning of your personal life? The life of an individual?
Darwin, Richard Dawkins would say that the meaning of *your* life is your (genetic, DNA) participation in the evolutionary race. Find the best mate you can, love her and have her love you, have children with her, and take great care of them. That is the meaning of your life. That is a lifetime of meaningful work.
