    If Obama wins, I …
If Obama wins, I hope he wins by a landslide accross the nation. The Republicans would seriously have to make sure that they have a better canidate, like Ron Paul.

KT, I like you. I want you to be a good person politically. I know you have it in you.

Tell me, do you think you will be voting Republican? Can you vote Obama this year?

Will you vote for McCain Obama or third party?

    Oh sure, the reason …
Oh sure, the reason we went to Iraq was for three reasons according to the President when he put the bill to congress. A link to Al Queda, Weapons of Mass Destruction, and Attempting to gain Nuclear Weapons. The reason I say you would be hardpressed to find someone who agrees with those reasons is because we now know that none of those were true and if you doubt that ask the president he’ll tell you. It’s not a conspiracy theory thing it’s a fact the war was based on lies thing.

    “I do not reject …
“I do not reject Christianity only because I find it irrational, but rather because I find it a great moral evil.”

Ok, but since you claim to be knowledgeable of theology, and you appeared insulted by my analyses of Abraham, I will not bother explaining unless you ask, but I will simply ask about the obvious conclusion any good understanding of the Bible leads to.

What is evil about loving God, and loving your fellow man?

It is real easy to …
It is real easy to say that you deny an evil God as you say; it would be a far different thing to say that if God himself were standing right in front of you. Especially since at that point it is not a matter of belief, but fact.

    “You assumed I did …
“You assumed I did not know what I was talking about, otherwise you wouldn’t have bothered to attempt to restate the story of Abraham”

I restated it because I think that you did not take into account all the facts of the story, not because I am questioning your knowledge of the subject matter.

    So, since you seam …
So, since you seam to think that everyone except Bill O’Reilly would not agree with this, what are you suggesting as the REAL reason we went to Iraq? And of course this reason would have to be compelling enough to not only convince the president, but almost every member of congress who had access to the same information.

    I do not reject …
I do not reject Christianity only because I find it irrational, but rather because I find it a great moral evil. And since I believe it is a great moral evil, at least when understood as many Christians understand it, and I have talked to MANY Christians who would not call themselves fundamentalists who believe such things. So I MUST if I am to be rational question the judgment of anyone who thinks this way.

    You assumed I did …
You assumed I did not know what I was talking about, otherwise you wouldn’t have bothered to attempt to restate the story of Abraham, like I had missed something. If I heard someone in my head telling me to kill my son, I would not do it. If there is a god, and he told me to kill my child, I WOULD NOT DO SO. I will not serve a god who is that evil. I will not serve a god who believes that ANY sin merits eternal punishment. I cannot ETHICALLY believe such things.

    One problem that …
One problem that the Democrats face right now is one of their favorite topics, universal health care. If they truly want a plan, then the first thing they need to do is push a Constitutional Amendment granting a new right of “health care,” until they do that any kind of federal UHC plan is simply unconstitutional and I would expect the Supreme Court to strike it down.

    Some might argue …
Some might argue that Palin being pro-life is extreme, however I would beg to differ, quite frankly it is nice to hear from both her and McCain that while they are pro-life, that does not mean that there is no room for difference of opinion within the administration. I personally oppose Roe v Wade but not because I want a ban on abortion (I am personally opposed to abortion but do not support a ban) but because it is unconstitutional.

    I understand that …
I understand that you were not talking about reasonable people as far as some saying that the Bible justifies our foreign policy. I am thinking myself of the views of some of the evangelists out on the TV and radio. Some of them teach sound theology, but should stay out of politics. Others are completely nuts. However folks like Sara Palin and Barak Obama may be a part of Churches that take some rather extreme views, but they do not seam to be extreme in their personal views.

    I never assume …
I never assume anything about the knowledge level of anyone I debate, except to assume that you know more about the given topic than I do (keeps me on my toes) for all I know you are a Roman Catholic Priest disguised as an atheist, or have a PHD in theology.

    I can only speak …
I can only speak for myself there, I wish that anyone else was president in 9/11 because we would’ve actually got the people who attacked us then, not started another war. And if you ask the average citizen they still think that Iraq was responsible for 9/11, when you explain to them why we ACTUALLY went to war with Iraq I’d be hardpressed to find anyone who agrees with it. Other than Bill O’Reilly but really he’s just a talking head anyway.

    This is the same …
This is the same phenomena as homophobia in some ways, there is a element of truth in the statement that the most vocal opponents to homosexuals may well be dealing with latent homosexual feelings. Many liberals who talk about how evil Bush, deep down are glad he was president when the s**t hit the fan on 9/11 and wanted him in office to continue the war that they vocally opposed, but deep down agreed with.

    If the exit polls …
If the exit polls show Obama as the winner, but McCain wins, I think that part of this will no doubt be the people who believe that they should vote for Obama but simply cannot due to racial prejudice. This is sad, but it is human nature. I think that the same is true in 2004 when some of the exit polls showed Kerry winning, many (especially liberals) liked Kerry, but trusted Bush to continue the war.

    A couple of decades …
A couple of decades ago, when the news organizations took polls, people simply answered the questions, however more and more people are answering how they think they SHOULD act, not really how they do. You see this in various studies that show that many people will say that they for example eat a healthy diet, but when the camera follows them around they find that they are actually eating crap.

Who wins is not an …
Who wins is not an indicator of a fix so to speak. The voter machine problems are not surprising as many states are getting these new fairly untested machines so there are bound to be problems. Democrats, and Republicans alike are watching each other like hawks, so I doubt that either would be able to get away with much. As for the polls I have a thought:

It is not spin to …
It is not spin to correct the record, by taking her out of context you try to make it sound like something it isn’t. There is a substantial between declaring that something is God’s will and asking for prayer that it would be God’s will. Sure, you disagree with the concept of God, but you must be willing to understand that she is not claiming to speak for God on these matters.

    I would hope racism …
I would hope racism would have nothing to do with it, unfortunately you’re probably right. That is something the democrats should be factoring in. Check out CNN, they had a story yesterday that they’re already showing problems in the voter machines for the battleground states. And the polling that they’re doing is admittedly skewed towards polling more republicans than democrats. I’m smelling a fix though I await the further weeks to make my final judgement.

    To respond to you …
To respond to you KT (and I thank you again for your demeanor, it’s not what I’m used to in these discussions).

First, I am quite familiar with Christian theology, though there’s no way you could have known that, just fyi, I was a Christian up until about a year ago, which gives me 8 years of experience since the age of reason.

What I would like to say is that I was not so much talking about what the more reasonable Biblical commentators say, nor good politicians.

    Wasilla AG has the …
Wasilla AG has the 15 minute of her speech. She calls the pipeline “god’s will”. She call’s the Iraq war “a task from god” and “god’s will”. The closest she gets to invoking Abraham Lincoln was to talk about “a redheaded sasquatch for Jesus”.

I know it’s true that you’re regurgitating her spin that she tried to put on it during the Charlie Gibson interview. You’re repeating a talking point. Stop spinning so hard, KT23. You’re going to throw the earth off it’s orbit.
