Yes a catholic belief is the basis of the control that the powers that be maintain to acquire masses of wealth and more power but it has been so for a couple thousand years now highlander. You need to google freemasons, and then free masons two words and watch some of the videos there it may give you a clearer picture of the machine behind the scenes.
References :
Look, the majority of Americans believes in god, this country was founded on the principle of god of course your going to to be seeing religion in society, there is no way around it. As for religion being shoved down your throat, I completely disagree with you on that one, people cant even sing the Christmas Carol in school anymore, its atheism that is being shoved down peoples throats, not religion.

When you get imprisoned for being Atheist, that's when religion is going to be shoved down your throat, not now.

BY the way I am not a christian or am I religious, its just how I personally see it.

I'm all for stem cell research and all that other stuff.
References :
You are not alone. When the President bans stem-cell research and gives tax money to churches for "faith-based initiatives" it goes beyond "freedom" for the average person.

I think non-Christians need to organize and have our own lobbyists in Washington. However, how would we do that? You can support Freethought Today, which does lobby Congress. http://www.ffrf.org/fttoday/
Other than that, I have no clue.
References :
People use religion and Christianity to accomplish their own goals. Independent of religion, I believe most the major issues that "religion" supposedly brings up would still exist, people would just find other ways to validate them.
References :
freedom of religion applies to everyone, not just you. You have the freedom to believe what you want to and not believe what you want to, but legislators have that same freedom, and those who vote on laws have that same freedom. no law can be passed to prevent you from having your religion or lack thereof, but they can write, draft, vote on, and promote laws and legislation from thier godfearing stand point
References :
Yes I do. Atheists are difficult to organize but perhaps we should to fight the christian menace from taking over.
References :
Religion seems to be very important to the majority in American and yet the minority us Atheists are treated like second-class citizens. Our right to NOT practice religion seems to cause us nothing but problems by the religious groups. Sadly America in my opinion WILL eventually turn into a Theocracy.
References :
No, not really. Though they make alot of claims to the contrary. If they didn't, religion wouldn't hold as much influence as it does in politics.
