Does Christianity get the benefits of both Christianity and atheism?

Written by admin on April 16, 2009 – 12:58 pm -

From a cost benefit standpoint it makes sense. You get your Christian God actually exists contingency coverage and your God doesn't really exist so I become dirt in the ground when I die plan. It's a two for one. Atheism just gets your God doesn't really exist afterlife coverage. Pascal wasn't really a gambler so much as an insurance salesman.

What if a god exists, but it values intellectual honesty? You're a bit screwed then, I'd say…

what are some similarities between atheism and Christianity?

Written by admin on April 16, 2009 – 12:58 pm -

like what can christians learn from atheists?

weird question, i know

Both have an eternal destination.

The difference is where it is.

@ V4zCeNt

You will be eternally separated from God in a place called hell if you do not accept God's grace through faith in His Son, Jesus. All God does in the end with people is give them what they most want, including freedom from Himself.

If atheists can accept that concepts like morality, logic, etc…can exist without scientific evidence, then?

Written by admin on April 16, 2009 – 12:57 pm -

why can't they accept the concept of God or gods existing without any scientific evidence?
if atheists are true to atheism and don't accept anything until is scientifically proven…shouldn't they reject morality, logic, and other concepts…or are atheists scared if the concept of God is real then they might actually have to study religions to see which one makes the most sense…if God is just a concept that man created then isn't morality just a concept that man created they really doesn't exist…since the concepts of God and morality can't be scientifically proven…

We know they exist scientifically.

That's what Episodic and Semantic memory are.

You are sooooo out of your depth.

TOTAL FAIL

Can you give me the name of at least one famous self-proclaimed atheist who is happy?

Written by admin on April 16, 2009 – 12:57 pm -

and good-natured as opposed to being belligerent and angry? I say "famous" because you can easily make anyone up if I say anyone you know.
Dawkins?? He's one of the most angry and hateful ones out there.
I checked a couple of the names of some that did not seem angry or miserable but didn't see any quotes where they said they were atheists. The ones who specifically label themselves as such always seem angry.

Warren Buffett, Barbara Forrest, Bill Gates, Ellery Schempp (designed the MRI) and yes even Dawkins is a very happy man. You're seeing selected bits from the Dominionists you admire.

Is the Religion & Spirituality category mainly concerning the debate between Atheism and (esp) Christianity?

Written by admin on April 16, 2009 – 12:57 pm -

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiIqsOHRzsXMrHlbMAeWokLsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090328094447AAo2Nsn

I was intending to see something new. Unfortunately, my hypothesis was mistaken for a Christian attack against ALL ATHEISTS!

To all reading this, I recommend that if possible, your questions should be submitted to another category. My question should have been posted to the more appropriate Politics category. A temporary boycott is needed.

Do you agree that many of the questions in the Religion & Spirituality category are unnecessary?

This is what the R&S category has been like for years. If you want serious answers, ask serious questions.

How can I tell how many sites of a certain category (i.e. sports, politics, etc) are on the web?

Written by admin on April 16, 2009 – 12:57 pm -

I'm intrested in finding out general statistics on how many sites/pages are on the web of certain categories. In particular I'm looking to compare the number of "religious" sites on the internet with those of the "atheist" persuasion. I'm not sure if Google or Yahoo keeps any track of these at all. I was hoping for something a little more sophisticated then just typing in "religion" and "atheism" myself and merely counting returned pages.

Thanks.

Results 1 – 10 of about 671,000 for religious websites. (0.14 seconds)

Results 1 – 10 of about 398,000 for atheist websites. (0.14 seconds)

What is the definition of "Atheist?"?

Written by admin on April 16, 2009 – 12:57 pm -

I've seen all over YA where people think it's someone who doesn't believe in anything, or someone who is against God, or someone who is a scientist.

Atheism is the lack of a belief in God. We don't believe in God. Nothing more, that's it.

Let's see…

According to the oh so credible "Answers Community", an atheist is a:

1. nihilist
2. democrat
3. socialist
4. sociopath
5. homosexual
6. elitist
7. America-hater
8. God-hater
9. Satan-lover
10. homo-enabler
11. abortionist
12. scientist
13. ACLU member
14. supreme court justice (or sympathizer)
15. communist

….

Everything except the *actual* definition of an atheist: one who does not believe in God.

What is the Christian definition of a atheist fundamentalist?

Written by admin on April 16, 2009 – 12:57 pm -

A non belief in gods?
I've heard this term bandied about a lot lately, what do you think it means?
I know that freezer burn ,most atheists do
Guys, I realize it's impossible to be one but I've been called one and have seen it used on other atheists just trying to find the xtian definition.

Actually it is a girl or guy, who did not complete High School ! (Just kidding !) This terminology you presented is not plausible, in that the term "atheist fundamentalist" fails to adequately describe a "non belief in gods". The fact that one would be "atheistic" would very well suffice to render the meaning with justice.
