It’s not just Atheism, but all worldviews that put man as the end all, be all have no real foundation and are destined to crumble.

All religion is extreme? Any belief system that has a non-existent arbitrator giving non-existent spiritual revelations to self-seeking, misguided and authoritarian “prophets” is extreme before it causes one death or lays one scalpel on the soft flesh of an innocent child.

…Why the existence of people like me directly contradicts the existence of the Christian God. I exist, so God must not!
(In my opinion, this is one of the strongest arguments against the Christian God, even more so than the problem of evil.)

One of our most prolific thinkers, E. J. Dionne argues that the advantage of the religious right is over. He says mainstream America has taken up the causes of social justice, peace and the environment.
Though he expects evangelical Christians to continue to thrive, they are beginning to focus on these issues as well, rather than abortion and gay marriage – The Commonwealth Club of California

Would atheism not exist if Christianity didn’t come first?
Written by admin on November 28, 2008 – 9:37 am -not agnosticism…atheism…pre-Christian religions were mainly animistic in nature…then polytheists…then monotheism…Judaism and Islam require obedience to laws…Christianity is a religion based on creed…Christianity has always been obsessed with doctrine, which is thought to be a set of true beliefs about man’s relationship to God…Christian theologians are charged with employing reason to understand the ways of God…during this same inquest of using reason to study God science as we know it began flourishing…next with reason people began to question the very existence of God…
why weren’t there many atheists prior to Christianity…were people just not “educated” enough for “under evolved”…
There were people who denied the existence of gods before Christianity. But I do think that what we call “atheism” in the West has been shaped by its opposition to Christianity, and that both atheists and Christians in the West consequently put much the same emphasis on questions of doctrine and “belief” that are not so important in other cultures.
