Welcome to Our Open Discussion Of All Things Spiritual

The world is being torn apart by it's religions. Could it be that religion is the single, most dangerous concept on the face of the earth, or is it the subversion of religion that will eventually destroy us?

…Why the existence of people like me directly contradicts the existence of the Christian God. I exist, so God must not!

(In my opinion, this is one of the strongest arguments against the Christian God, even more so than the problem of evil.)

Would atheism not exist if Christianity didn’t come first?

Posted by admin in Judaism and Atheism | November 28th, 2008

not agnosticism…atheism…pre-Christian religions were mainly animistic in nature…then polytheists…then monotheism…Judaism and Islam require obedience to laws…Christianity is a religion based on creed…Christianity has always been obsessed with doctrine, which is thought to be a set of true beliefs about man’s relationship to God…Christian theologians are charged with employing reason to understand the ways of God…during this same inquest of using reason to study God science as we know it began flourishing…next with reason people began to question the very existence of God…

why weren’t there many atheists prior to Christianity…were people just not “educated” enough for “under evolved”…

There were people who denied the existence of gods before Christianity. But I do think that what we call “atheism” in the West has been shaped by its opposition to Christianity, and that both atheists and Christians in the West consequently put much the same emphasis on questions of doctrine and “belief” that are not so important in other cultures.
